WIND OF CHANGE
Roberto Azevedo | OCT 7, 2022
The vacational appearance of life is but a shadow in the course of the school year. October is right on the corner and we have already had a taste of the complexity that comes along with the activities that our family follows. School grades have showed up and let me tell you, they don´t look great. Finances came knocking on the door to exemplify the toughness of reality. And the obligations that our professional lives put us through some serious need of change.
As the kids grow up, they require quite a LOT more. Whereas before a basic extracurricular activity within the school grounds would suffice, now they need proper training in clubs and associations that elevate the cost in all fronts. The fees are higher, there is equipment and transportation not to mention the time and attention involved in taking them to practice and bringing them back. I know I am blessed by the fact that I´m beside them in this experience and I get to see the joy of growing up (many times disguised as a grumpy face), but that does not make it any easier.
As parents we are prompted to step up our games and increase the financial support to provide them and us with more economical stability and that is another huge challenge. I´ve been having sleepless nights trying to create this online school, and my wife is considering a job change.
We haven´t been caught by surprise! We saw it coming but were dealing with another nature of troubles that got us ¨stuck¨for a while. Our relationship went under a few trials and tribulations that nearly ended it all. Somehow we manage to steer back on the road, but the wounds needed some time to heal before moving on (more on that latter).
In overall we have to get a lot more organized in order to move on, FULL STEAM AHEAD!
